Sony needed an in-line solution to display their current earbud, headphone, and wireless speaker models in Best Buy. The display requirements were to house all three product types, be interactive, and work in four, six, and eight foot increments. The transition between products and categories should be seamless with shared content being implemented via a large monitor.
To develop the shopping journey and display layout various zones were explored in conjunction with Sony's display guidelines and required display components.
Current instore headphone displays appeared cluttered due to lack of cord management. In the following ideation, solutions that were investigated included retractable cable devices, cable wraps, and gravity fed options.

The final concept was a four foot unit that displayed four sets of headphones and a selection of earbuds. The integrated tablet provided a deeper dive on product offerings and features. A demo selection and volume was controlled by large stereo-like multifunctional knobs. Cord management was accomplished with retracting mechanisms creating a clean and organized display. Illumination highlighted products and created an inviting shopping experience.
